It’s here! Our e-book has received a 65 page appendix that draws from our two years of living in SHED tiny house. It was our goal to update this book to reflect what that experience has been like, what we have learned, what we would do differently and what it has been like transitioning into first time parents in this space. Please scroll down to learn more about the contents of our book, including example page spreads.

[If you have already purchased our e-book in the past you should have received an e-mail from us on January 31 with a new download link for the 2nd edition as a thank you for supporting us! If you don’t see it just shoot us a message through HERE and we will take care of you!]

“BUILT WITH OUR HANDS: a d.i.y. Tiny house memoir” initially addressed our inspirations for going tiny and the design and construction of our home in a way that makes much of the information applicable to any tiny house design/build. The initial review reads;

“A comprehensive and candid look at one couples journey through the design and construction of their 24’ modern tiny house. Having minimal construction experience, a desire to learn and a passion for adventure, the nurse and architect team of Samantha and Robert share the successes and failures experienced during their 18 month do-it-yourself endeavor aptly referred to as, SHED.

Using meticulous photographic documentation and authentic musings the reader is privy to every step of the design+build process and are introduced to the whys and how’s of their more unique decisions, including the implementation of continuous exterior insulation on a 2×3 structure and giving up 24 square feet of living space for a ‘gear room.’

Robert and Samantha will walk you through the intricate process and shed light on their own inspirations and motivations that have led to a vibrant existence living full time in their 204 square foot tiny house on wheels in Washington state.”

The added appendix now covers the final chapter to our story: what it’s actually like to live and become first time parents in a tiny house. Following the same photo-rich format as the rest of the book we talk about the benefits, tangible and intangible, that we have experienced after cultivating our tiny house dream, while providing a photographic account of life in 204 sf . Perhaps most notable (and anticipated) are the pages dedicated to raising our baby in the tiny house, from storage and sleeping arrangements to loft safety and bath time. It is not only possible, it has been down right enjoyable!
